Constructive Critiques
What is a critique you ask? Well I can tell you that it's not a review of someone's work. A constructive critique is there to help the writer advance to the next level, to become better than they currently are.
* When critiquing someone's work, you're not looking for 'spelling and grammatical' errors, you're looking specifically for ways that the writer can improve.
* As you're reading, ask yourself these questions; Is the dialogue fluent and related to the plot? Do the characters sound too similar to one another? Do the events in the story make sense?
* For scripts and screenplays, the critiquing is slightly different and a bit more lenient. Though spelling and grammar should still be left up to 'wanna be editors' Instead, you will be looking for the same as in a short story or novel but also pay attention to the format. Unlike other forms of writing, screenplays follow a strict set of rules, if there is something that should or shouldn't be in the screenplay then make sure you tell the writer so that they can fix it. As well as offer advice on where they can do some research on screenplays.
