Short Story/Poetry Contests
It is part of the plan to eventually have short story and poetry contests at least once a month, and you may be wondering right now, when will these start? As it turns out, there are a few requirements this forum needs to meet before we can even consider holding these events. If you feel that you are able to help us meet some of these, then please reply to this thread with the details.
* This forum needs to have an active member count of at least 10 people.
* Out of those 10, we need at least 3 staff members, but we're not limited to that. A graphic artist is necessary as well, because of the icons that will need to be made for the winners.
More things might be required but that's pretty much what I have so far. This thread will be updated later with the details for the contests...Short Story/Poetry Contest JudgingThe judging for short story and poetry contests will have minor differences and the number of judges will depend on how many entries we have for each contest. For now here are the judging guidelines for the short story contests:
* Contests can have 3-5 judges depending on how many entries we have. Those judges will include at least 1-3 staff members, one regular member of the forum (you'd have to apply for this position to be registered as a judge), and at least 1 editor/critique which can also count as a normal forum member.
* For short stories, there are 3-5 possible categories to be judged under. Each judge will be given one of these categories to focus on and they can give you a score out of ten. So for example, if your spelling and grammar is almost perfect, then the score might be 9/10.
* The maximum score one can achieve is 50 which incidentally would be a perfect score.
* The categories for judging are spelling and grammar, good use of lit devices, plot development, vocabulary words used and dialogue. (These are not permanent, they could change if something better is thought up.)
